NOTIFICATION

TO: Congress participants

Dear friends

With this letter we would like to inform you that the preparations for the realisation of our congress are advancing.

The ETDSF’s chairman Mrs Judit BERENTE and the General Secretary Mr Mark MURPHY visited Athens, on 27th and 28th January 2006, and we worked out the final programme and the details of the congress.

The closing date for registration is Saturday 25th February 2006.

PRESENTATIONS

We remind you that a speaker from each country is expected to present a report on the sports programme situation in effect in their country. A speaker can also make suggestions or proposals to improve their present situation.

The presentation of the questionnaire that was attached to the first invitation will be given by Mark MURPHY, the ETDSF Secretary.

To facilitate the work of the Congress we are providing a set of guidelines for your country’s presentation. In case you have any difficulties with the English language, after writing your presentation, please do not hesitate to send it to the Irish Kidney Association colin@ika.ie by the 10th of March and they will advise on the language used and send it back to you.

 

ACCOMMODATION

3 nights full board accommodation, and the visit to Olympia is offered for free for two (2) representatives from each country, from 26 -5-2006 until 29 -5 -2006

Accompanying persons can also attend the Congress at their own expense:

* Full board accommodation for three nights 3 x €130 = €390

Visit to Ancient Olympia (optional) €100

(The price for Ancient Olympia includes transportation, entry ticket, guided tour and dinner)

Dear friends,

We need your collaboration in the organisation of the congress. So please, return your Registration Form and the text of your presentation in good time.

If you do not intend to attend the Congress, please tell us the reasons, i.e. not interested, the travel is very long, the transportation expenses are too high, nobody speaks English well enough, organisational problems in your association, or any other reason.

We need this information for future planning.

Each country is asked to present a brief outline of their Transplant / Dialysis Sports Organisation, in English. The presentation should be made through Powerpoint, where possible.

The following areas should be your headings for the presentation :

· The number of active sports patients

– Detail transplant recipients and people on dialysis separately

– Number of competitors at European Games : Hungary 2002

Slovenia 2004

Hungary 2006 (Estimate)

- Number of competitors at World Games : Japan 2001

· National Coverage

- Does your sports organisation run activities all over your country or is everything based in the Capital city ?

· Organisational Support

Think about the support you get that is NOT financial. Ideas are listed below.

- Medical Profession (medical cover at sports events, encouragement of patients to participate in sports, etc.)

- Local / National government (Providing sports facilities and equipment, logistical support at National Games – eg. Police, etc.)

- National Sports Associations / Governing Bodies (providing coaches, sports facilities, etc.)

- Media (Raising organ donor awareness, publicity, etc.)

- Other (The above list is by no means complete, so add what is relevant to your country’s situation)
